Take a Plunge into the Past

Elegantly renovated with a 260 year-old British Colonial style, it is easy to see the history that lies behind the doors of the Graycliff Hotel. Upon entering the hotel, you quickly notice this hotel lives and breathes luxury and elegance.

Pool at the GraycliffThe hotel has quite a history that dates back to the 1700, the year it was built by privateer John Howard Graysmith. Established in 1844 as Nassau’s first inn, the Graycliff hotel has attracted many of the rich, famous and infamous alike; notably European royalty, government leaders such as Winston Churchill and the notorious Al Capone have all made appearances at Graycliff.

During recent history, Graycliff became the property of a Canadian couple. It was during their ownership that the mansion was completely renovated and the first swimming pool in the Bahamas was constructed, surrounded by lush tropical gardens. Today, Enrico and Anna Maria Garzaroli own the Graycliff Hotel

The Graycliff Hotel not only houses a vibrant past and the first pool to be built in the Bahamas, but is also home to the first 5-star restaurant in the Caribbean. The Graycliff Restaurant’s impressive menu and ambiance appeals to all moods and clienteles. Furthermore, the restaurant is the proud owner of the Graycliff Cellar, a collection of over 250,000 bottles of quality wines. Of course, we can’t forget the hotel’s own Graycliff Cigar Company which produces exceptional handcrafted cigars. You can purchase them on-site or from top tobacconists around the world. With a great list of notable history, it’s no wonder the Graycliff Hotel was originally built by the hands of a pirate as his personal residence.
