How To Choose Your Perfect Pair of Sunglasses
Posted by: Nassau Paradise Island on January 21, 2015
With an average of 300 days of sunshine here each year, packing sunglasses is a must when you’re traveling to Nassau Paradise Island. Shopping for sunglasses can be overwhelming, with many styles and frames to choose from. The good news is, with so many options, there’s a perfect pair for you to wear during your Bahamas vacation!
The key to choosing a flattering pair of sunglasses is to know your face shape before you go shopping. Is your face round, heart-shaped, or oval? Look straight into a mirror with your hair pulled back to determine your face shape. Is your jaw square or rounded? If so, you’ve got a square or round face. A dainty chin means your face is heart-shaped, and if your face is longer than it’s wide, you’ve got an oval-shaped face.
Now that you know your face shape, it’s time to go shopping. Trying on sunglasses in stores before you buy is key. It can be tempting to order glasses online, but trying on lots of different pairs allows you to get a feel for what styles you like best. In general, the shape of your frames should be the opposite of your face shape to best complement your features.
Here are a few examples to get you inspired!
If you have a round face, choose frames that are square or rectangular for balance.
For women: Tory Burch
For men: Persol
If your face has a square shape, choose rounded or oval frames, which will help soften your features.
For women: Vogue Eyewear
For men: Oakley
People with heart-shaped faces will look best in glasses with narrow rims, such as aviators.
For women: Ralph
For men: Maui Jim
And if you have an oval face? Lucky you! Any sunglasses will look great on you. Why not have fun with a retro cat’s eye, or go classic with a wayfarer style?
For women: Dolce & Gabbana
For men: Ray-Ban
Don’t forget to look for a pair of sunglasses with protection against both UVA and UVB light. Those labeled as UV 400 block both types of rays. If you plan on doing a lot of boating or water sports during your vacation, you may want to look into a pair of floating sunglasses so you don’t lose your shades on the go. Happy shopping!
