With its understated elegance and stunning shoreline, the One&Only Ocean Club is one of the most exclusive resorts in The Bahamas. The luxury resort’s long history of entertaining the world's elite has earned a reputation as sterling as its pristine beach. Once the private hideaway of A&P heir Huntington Hartford, the resort has hosted an international mix of celebrities, politicians and royalty in its almost 45-year existence. Today, vacationers are drawn by the casual sophistication, top-notch service and, most of all, the beauty and tranquility of this 35-acre resort.

Inspired by the Chateau de Versailles, terraced gardens adorned with fountains and European statuary grace the property. There is also a 12th-century French cloister, shipped piece-by-piece from France. The three-mile stretch of white sand beach bordering the property to the north is considered one of the best beaches in The Bahamas.

Endless Activities

A playground for children and adults, the resort offers world-class golf, tennis, a full-service spa, children's club and, of course, plenty of crystal blue water for swimming, diving, snorkeling, sailing or just admiring. A dip in the palm-lined pool, Evian water misting and afternoon sorbet offer an exquisite form of relief from the heat.

A Bermudan-style bar, six tennis courts and the nearby Ocean Club Golf Course are open to guests. Complimentary shuttles transport guests half a mile west to the Atlantis resort, a partner property, where they can enjoy access to all facilities and charging privileges at the numerous restaurants and lounges.

Guest Rooms
Accommodations are presented in two distinct wings The Hartford Wing, defined by classic colonial architecture includes luxury beachfront suites and rooms. The Crescent Wing, defined by contemporary luxury offers garden and ocean suites and rooms and garden cottages. Villa Residences, reflecting the refined qualities of an elegant island home, are also available.

Bathrooms provide recessed lighting, lighted makeup mirrors and marble vanities. Each room has a balcony or ground-floor terrace, closed at both ends for privacy and furnished with two cushioned lounge chairs and a wrought-iron dining set. Extra-thick mattresses, bathrobes, signature toiletries and fans hanging from high ceilings provide the ultimate in comfort. Each room also includes an entertainment center with 32-inch television and a twin-speaker CD/DVD player. Guests are extended complimentary use of CDs and DVDs, available in the resort's library, as well as complimentary Internet connection in-rooms and WIFI at the pool, library and Dune Restaurant.

Service here is a fine art with 24-hour personal butler service, champagne and strawberries delivered every afternoon, a daily fresh-fruit bowl and twice-daily maid service.

Where to Eat

Dune
Indulge your senses at chic Dune, a restaurant by internationally renowned chef and restauranteur Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Perched atop a white sand beach amidst dramatic ocean views, Dune serves an innovative blend of French-Asian cuisine infused with local herbs and Bahamian influences, for a truly unexpected dining experience. Dinner selections include the freshest local seafood, duck, veal chop and chicken seasoned with herbs grown in Dune's organic garden.

Clubhouse
Overlooking the 9th and 18th holes of the Ocean Club Golf Course, with views of the ocean beyond, the Clubhouse is an inviting, casual dining venue. Enjoy an easy breakfast or a light lunch, either indoors or on the scenic patio. A full service bar prepares favorite libations as guests relax after a game or catch up on the latest sports news.

Courtyard Terrace
Experience contemporary Mediterranean cuisine and dine beneath the stars. The historic Courtyard Terrace is considered one of the most elegant settings on Paradise Island. Dine around a candle-lit fountain pool on unique selections such as lobster and lamb carpaccio, Moroccan veal, roasted eggplant and yellowfin tuna cannelloni with stone crab. Open for dinner only Thursday through Monday.

The Library
Located in One&Only Ocean Club's stately reception hall, The Library exudes the warm, comfortable ambiance of a Colonial plantation home. Cocktails, fine vintage wines and champagnes, an extensive martini menu, gourmet pastries and afternoon tea are served along with lovely panoramic views of the ocean.

Pool Terrace Café
For guests preferring to linger poolside, the Pool Terrace Café offers a savory menu including Bahamian conch chowder, grilled vegetables on focaccia, fresh salads and tempting desserts.

Golf
The Ocean Club Golf Course is a championship 18-hole course designed by famed golfer Tom Weiskopf. His strategic design creates a blend of spectacular seaside holes providing outstanding views of the ocean and challenging play for any golfer.

Beach
At the heart of One&Only Ocean Club is the allure of water. Dip your toes in one of our pristine white sand beaches, described as some of the most beautiful in the world or take a swim in the languid Versailles Pool, for adults ages 14 and older. Poolside concierge service includes Evian misting, CD players and music selections, newspapers and magazines and sunglass cleaning. The new separate family pool is designed for younger guests complete with waterfall and aqua toys.

Fitness
The Fitness Centre features the latest state-of-the-art cardiovascular training equipment and resistance machines. The facility also features dedicated rooms for stretching and Pilates, cardiovascular workouts, circuit training, and a uniquely designed outdoor free-weights training platform. Yoga and Kinesis classes are offered daily.

Pilates, power cycling, morning stretch, core and abdominals, cardiovascular circuit training, and muscular endurance training classes can all be arranged upon request. Group classes, with the exception of Yoga, require three or more participants.

Beauty
The One&Only Spa offers a full service beauty salon for men & women. Services are offered in private suites for individuals and may be reserved for bridal parties. Hair styling & coloring, manicures, pedicures, waxing and other indulgent therapies are also available.

Spa
A discreet sanctuary of calm and wellness, the One&Only Spa provides the ultimate rejuvenating experience with an enriching selection of treatments blending ancient techniques with contemporary practice. Traditional spa therapies and the natural spices, fruits and minerals indigenous to The Bahamas are melded together to provide the pampering rituals and specific treatments.

Tennis
One&Only Ocean Club has six Har-Tru tennis courts, with four floodlit for night play. Equipment is available at the Fitness Centre and the resident tennis professionals organize special clinics, games and round robin tournaments. Private instructions offered at an hourly fee.

KidsOnly Club
This KidsOnly Club is a complimentary, fully supervised program for younger guests ages 4 - 12 years old. Kids under 4 are welcome with a parent or guardian. Daily themed activities are offered such as Junkanoo Festival, Ocean Adventure, the Culinary Academy with One&Only chefs and tips from the resort's golf and tennis professionals. There is also a computer and technology area, arts & crafts center, movie & video game area, library and a game room. Outdoor activities include beach games, exploration of the marine habitat at nearby Atlantis and more.

Watersports
With varying hues of blue — from the shallow turquoise of bays and lagoons to the deep indigo of the ocean — water is the essence of Bahamian life. Seaplane safaris, luxury yacht charters, scuba lessons and diving excursions can be arranged through the concierge.
