Nassau Paradise Island Offering A Different Kind Of Spring Break For 2015: Family Fun and ‘Edutainment’ Complement Sun, Sea and Sand

Deals, Learning Opportunities in Bahamas Beach Destination

March 4, 2015 – While Nassau Paradise Island, Bahamas has long been known for its beautiful beaches, families traveling on spring break this year will find the destination is more than just surf and sand. “We’ve seen such a demand from families looking to do more than lay by the pool together,” said Fred Lounsberry, CEO of Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board. “We want visitors to take advantage of options ranging from museums to immersive tours and see that Nassau Paradise Island has everything a family could want from a fun, learning vacation – with the beach and beautiful scenery as an added bonus.” Warren Binder, Executive Vice President of Paradise Island Tourism Development Association, adds, “The destination’s experiential offerings are not only for families with young children, but appeal to a multigenerational audience interested in getting beyond the beach on vacation.” In addition to educational opportunities, new promotions at many of the destination’s properties make Nassau Paradise Island even more enticing this Spring Break season.

Edutainment Offerings

Pirates of Nassau Interactive Museum
From 1690 to 1720, Nassau had the highest concentration of pirates ever seen in the New World. At the Pirates of Nassau Museum, which provides the perfect mix of entertainment and education, kids and parents alike will love learning about the Golden Age of Piracy. Guests can board the “Revenge,” a replica of a real-life pirate ship, and feel as if they’ve gone back in time for a truly interactive history lesson.

Tru Bahamian Food Tours

The 14-acre habitat gives families an opportunity to interact with dolphins, sea lions and stingrays while learning about the animals and their environment. Dolphin Cay is also home to the Education Center, where kids and parents can learn about wildlife conservation.

Junkanoo and Island Culture
Nassau Paradise Island has a rich history with Spanish, West African and British influences that have created a unique blend of island culture. Junkanoo, one of the Caribbean’s most well-known events, is a massive celebration featuring brightly-costumed people that showcases the music, spirit and multiculturalism of the Bahamas.
