Visitors from all over the world are squealing with excitement over the hottest activity to hit the shores of Nassau Bahamas – swimming alongside pigs in Paradise. Even celebrities are crossing this unique travel experience off their bucket list, with visits from ABC’s The Bachelor, Kourtney Kardashian, Amy Schumer, and Pitbull.

The Bahamas is home to a variety of exotic wildlife, but none more special than the swimming pigs in the Out Islands of Exuma. A handful of hogs have made themselves at home on the uninhabited island of Big Major Cay, also known as Pig Island, and can be found living freely on the sandy beaches, basking in the Bahamian sun, and swimming in the warm waters. While no one knows exactly how they arrived in The Bahamas – stories suggest that they were left by a group of sailors – these friendly pigs are just waiting for visitors.

Journey over 158 nautical miles to Pig Island with Exuma Escapes or Harbour Safaris. This is the farthest offshore excursion to operate out of Nassau, and a warm welcome awaits. As you arrive, these seafaring swine will happily swim out to greet you. Hop in to feed them (they love to pig out) and join them for a “hoggy-paddle” in the perfect turquoise waters. It will be an experience you’ll never forget! If that’s not enough, round out your day by feeding rock iguanas, swimming with nurse sharks and enjoying your very own private beach.
