About the Programme

The People-to-People Programme is a community involvement venture that brings visitors and Bahamian residents together on a one-to-one basis, providing a rare opportunity to explore the history, folklore and culture of our country. The programme was inaugurated by The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism in Nassau in 1975, Grand Bahama Island in 1976, Eleuthera / Harbour Island in 1988 and was extended to The Abacos, The Exumas, Bimini and San Salvador in 1992. Today, more than 1,200 Bahamians on seven islands volunteer as hosts of the programme.
