Collaboration marks next phase of the destination’s music-driven cultural initiative

NASSAU, February 12, 2026 – The Nassau & Paradise Island Promotion Board (NPIPB) is pleased to announce a collaboration with acclaimed Bahamian musician, songwriter and producer Fred Ferguson as the next chapter of its Sound of Vacation music initiative, a platform designed to spotlight Bahamian talent and celebrate the destination’s cultural identity.

Launched in September 2024 alongside NPIPB’s new brand campaign, Sound of Vacation, was created to highlight the unique culture of Nassau & Paradise Island. The initiative debuted with an original album developed in collaboration with celebrated local artist Lady E, and renowned Bahamian producers Rik Carey, Ira Storr, and C Ray.

The collaboration with Fergusion reinforces NPIPB’s commitment to cultural authenticity and supporting local creative artists. New music from the partnership is scheduled forrelease this spring.

“Music is one of the most authentic expressions of who we are as a destination,” said Joy Jibrilu, CEO of the Nassau & Paradise Island Promotion Board. “Fred’s influence, creativity and deep connection to our islands make him the ideal partner as we continue bringing the sounds of The Bahamas to a global audience.”

Ferguson is widely recognized as one of The Bahamas’ most respected, award-winning musicians. His career spans decades as a guitarist, songwriter and producer, with a body of work that has helped shape the sound of Bahamian music across generations. Ferguson is deeply committed to promoting Bahamian culture and uplifting the next generation of artists, and he has consistently used his platform to champion local talent and authentic storytelling. He was a founding member of the internationally recognized group Baha Men and the producer of “Junkanoo in Paradise,” a musical drama that brings the heart, rhythm and soul of Bahamian culture to the stage.

“Bahamian music has always been rooted in storytelling and community,” said Ferguson. “This collaboration is an opportunity to honor that tradition while sharing our sound with a wider audience. I’m proud to be part of an initiative that puts Bahamian culture and creativity at the center of how the world experiences Nassau & Paradise Island.”

Music from the Sound of Vacation initiative is available on major streaming platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify. To learn more and listen, visit https://www.nassauparadiseisland.com/local-artists
