NPIPB brought The Bahamas to Westfield Century City, showcasing the destination’s award-winning resorts and authentic Bahamian hospitality

Nassau, January 16, 2024Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board (NPIPB), the organization responsible for building awareness and motivating travellers to choose Nassau & Paradise Island as their vacation destination, celebrated the launch of new direct air service from LAX with a fully branded activation in Westfield Century City on Tuesday, January 9.

The upscale shopping center’s atrium was transformed into a tropical beach destination, complete with brightly coloured cabanas and a realistic depiction of The Bahamas’ signature turquoise waters and white sand beaches.  Through the activation, the destination aimed to heighten awareness of Nassau & Paradise Island and encourage travellers from the local Los Angeles area to embrace the best of The Bahamas, including award-winning resort partners, authentic Bahamian cooking, mixologist demonstrations, Junkanoo, art, and much more.

The West Coast mission was led by NPIPB CEO Joy Jibrilu who gave a presentation to attending media and VIPs, highlighting reasons to visit.

Jibrilu said: “Nassau and Paradise Island are seeing strong visitation from Los Angeles as it offers the perfect getaway for those on the West Coast craving a tropical vacation with pristine beaches, warm clear waters, world-class resorts, and unmatched Bahamian hospitality. And now, we are thrilled that it is easier than ever to get to Nassau from the West Coast with new nonstop flight options from JetBlue and Alaska Airlines that make a tropical getaway an attainable reality.”

The new nonstop flights are a result of the demand for Nassau & Paradise Island from the West Coast, as noted by NPIPB. In 2023, Los Angeles was one of the top 5 markets driving visitation to its website, with Seattle also in the top 10 and San Francisco among the top 20 for the first time in history.

Destination storyteller Anastarcia “Star” Palacious acted as the emcee for the event, engaging the crowed who enjoyed mixology demonstrations from Atlantis Paradise Island mixologist Marv Cunningham; recipes from The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort Executive Chef Jamal Small; “partici-painting” in a live mural with The Celebrity Artist Jamaal Rolle; and Junkanoo from The Valley Boys, presented by Baha Mar. Participating resorts included Sandals Royal Bahamian, Baha Mar, Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort, Atlantis, The Cove, and Margaritaville Beach Resort, Nassau.

Following the day in Los Angeles, NPIPB and its resort partners flew to Seattle to host a luncheon at The Four Seasons on January 11, where Jibrilu presented destination updates to a room full of Seattle-based media.
