Bahamian cuisine is known for its delightful flavors and fresh ingredients – and now it’s your turn to whip up your very own culinary masterpiece, Bahamas style! The team at Tru Bahamian Food Tours has developed an Authentic Bahamian Cooking Class & Lunch Experience that teaches participants how to create an authentic Bahamian meal in one of finest restaurants in the Caribbean.
In the gourmet kitchen at Graycliff Restaurant – the first certified five-star restaurant in The Bahamas – participants will spend the afternoon cooking with a charismatic local chef while learning the basics of Bahamian cooking. And the best part of all is enjoying the delicious foods you’ve prepared, perfectly matched with fine wines from Graycliff’s award-winning wine cellar which contains more than 250,000 bottles!
Participants will go behind the scenes in the Graycliff kitchen, preparing a traditional three-course, authentic Bahamian meal using seasonal ingredients under the guidance of Executive Chef Elijah Bowe. Learn the tricks and techniques used in Bahamian cooking, discover the ingredients that are used in The Bahamas’ most loved dishes, and receive signature recipes to replicate at home, as well as an authentic Graycliff apron. In addition to the class and the meal, participants will also enjoy a private tour of the world-famous Graycliff wine cellar, which has received a prestigious Wine Spectator Grand Award every year since 1988. In total, the experience will take about 3.5 hours to complete.
Make sure you arrive hungry! Participants will enjoy a welcome appetizer and refreshment followed by a three-course meal paired perfectly with a selection of wines at the Graycliff Restaurant in downtown Nassau. A sample lunch menu begins with conch chowder before a main course of broiled snapper, peas n’ rice, baked macaroni n’ cheese, and coleslaw, capped off with guava duff for dessert.
