7 Great Travel Apps for Your Trip to The Bahamas

While you’re enjoying a well-deserved vacation, your smartphone just might be your number-one travel companion. From seeking out free Wi-Fi to helping you navigate a new place, travel apps can make a good trip even better!

Before you board your flight to The Bahamas, make sure these seven apps are installed on your device to help you make the most of your time in Nassau Paradise Island.

PackPoint

Hat, sunscreen, swimsuit, books…the kids. Did you remember everything? Don’t worry, the PackPoint app has you and your checklist covered! Create custom, ready-made lists for everyone on your trip based upon where you're going, what you'll be doing, and what the weather is like in your destination. Never forget anything (or anyone) again.

WiFi Map

Sometimes, you need to get online, and it just can’t wait until you’re back in your room at the resort–but you don’t want to be stuck paying for international data charges, either. Enter WiFi Map, an app that shows you all the local free Wi-Fi locations. Stay connected no matter where you go (but we really, really hope you’re not using this app to check your work email–after all, you’re on vacation!)

WhatsApp

Worried about roaming fees and phone charges on your vacation? Then get WhatsApp! WhatsApp allows you to send and receive unlimited messages, images, video and audio to and from everyone on your contact list by using the same Internet data plan that you use for email and Web browsing.

Postagram

Want to send Mom a postcard on your trip, but are having trouble finding “the picture-perfect postcard”, plus you’d also like to save a little money in the process? Well, there’s an app for that! Postagram turns your iPhone, Instagram, and Facebook photos into postcards, and then delivers an actual paper postcard by mail. Take a photo of you at the beach or all dressed up for dinner. The best part about these postcards is that they are 100% original photos by you and from you and will be delivered anywhere in the US for $2, or outside of the US for $3–and the price includes postage!

DailyWater

When you’re traveling, it’s easy to let good habits slide...and that includes getting enough water to drink each day. Since the temperatures in the Bahamian sun can get quite warm, staying hydrated is more important than ever during your vacation in Paradise. Download the DailyWater app, which lets you set daily hydration goals, schedules reminders to drink more water, and tracks the amount of water you drink each day. This is a great habit to keep up once you’re back home, too!

VSCO

If you’re “doing it for the gram”, make sure your photos look top-notch with a photo editing app like VSCO, which applies artsy filters to your vacation photos to make them stand out. Or use Unfold’s beautiful, simple templates to create gorgeous photo collages and Instagram story frames.

TripIt

Keep all your travel information organized in one place with TripIt. As you book flights, car transportation, dinner reservations, or excursions, TripIt collects your information and consolidates it in one itinerary. Say goodbye to the days of screenshotting your reservation confirmation emails or adding cryptic notes to your devices as you book things. TripIt takes the work out of vacation planning, so you can relax–and, after all, that’s what taking a vacation is all about!

These are just a few of the easy-to-use travel apps you can use to help plan your trip, make traveling even more enjoyable, and share your favorite moments. We recommend downloading all the apps you want and need before heading out on vacation–that way, you won’t use up any precious vacation data (or vacation time!) installing apps or signing up for accounts. Bonus tip: don’t forget to add an international roaming package to your cell phone plan if you’ll be accessing the Internet or taking calls in areas that don’t have Wi-Fi. Nothing ruins post-vacation bliss quite like surprise cell phone charges on your next monthly bill!
