Tru Bahamian Food Tour Featured in Washington Post

Posted by: Nassau Paradise Island on September 15, 2015

If you’re a Washington Post reader, you may have read a recent story about one of our favorite unique tours here in Nassau Paradise Island. The Tru Bahamian Bites of Nassau Food Tour was featured in a Washington Post article entitled “Nassau food tour showcases Bahamian food beyond the resort”, and we couldn’t be more excited for more people to learn about this fun, educational, and delicious gem of The Bahamas.

Tru Bahamian Food Tours was launched by Alanna Rodgers in 2012 with a mission of connecting visitors with authentic local food experiences, as well as the stories and traditions behind Bahamian foods. Partnering with local eateries and specialty shops, Alanna developed the 3.5-hour Bites of Nassau Food Tasting and Cultural Walking Tour, enabling guests to discover Nassau’s fascinating history, architecture, and culture while sampling delicious and diverse foods and beverages.

From conch fritters and chowder to hand-made chocolate truffles, tour participants are introduced to a wide range of traditional Bahamian cuisine prepared by local chefs and artisans whose passion for great food is unrivaled. Tours can easily accommodate guests with food allergies or dietary restrictions, and children are welcome, too.

While tour guests are filling their bellies, they’re also treated to a lively and interactive introduction to Nassau’s history, culture, and architecture. The tour route includes a stroll through the cultural and political center of The Bahamas and through downtown Nassau’s quaint, colorful streets. Tour participants discover everything from centuries-old colonial relics to the best places to catch a live music show.

Here’s a sneak peek of what you can expect during a Tru Bahamian Bites of Nassau tour.
