The Pirates of Nassau

The history of piracy in the Caribbean is long and storied, with tall tales and legend spreading all over the globe through film and literature. But what actually happened, and who were the central players?

Nassau really was once a pirate’s republic, and the famous plunderers, of which you’ve surely heard stories, were real people who made Nassau their home and hiding place.

Over the next several weeks, we’ll be sharing more about the history of piracy in the Caribbean and Atlantic, and we’ll introduce you to some of the famous pirates of which legend still speaks today.

And so now we’ll tell you a little bit about three pirates who started and established what’s now called the Golden Age of Piracy, beginning at the turn of the 18th century.
